Amidst a deluge of reports that the economy is in the tank, I took a little time today to evaluate my own personal economy. I asked myself a few simple questions and figured out that while the global economy may be horrible, the outlook on my own personal economy is not so bleak.
Take some time to ask yourself:
1. How secure is my job at my company in the town were I live?
2. Will I most likely make more, less, or the same money as last year?
3. Is there enough time before I retire for the stock market to rebound? (If so, why worry? There is a blue-light special on stocks right now.)
4. If I lost my job today, how long could I keep paying all of my bills?*
5. Am I currently living on less than I make?*
Answer these questions and you may find out that you are not as broke as CNN tells you that you are.
* – If you are not living on a written budget, then you will merely be guessing at these questions. If you are guessing at these questions, then you really have no grasp on your personal economy
